Hi guys,
So today my dad came home and told me about this woman he works with, her son recently attended a monster truck event in the Dutch town of Haaksbergen. As Volenta might be aware, that event went terribly wrong. One of the trucks drove into the crowd and several people were killed. A video of it is on Youtube, I saw it and it send shivers down my spine. I won't link it here, as it really isn't anything I'd recommend watching. Anyway, her son happened to stand right next to where the truck drove into the audience and saw it all happen in person. It left him with a terrible trauma, such that whenever he hears an ambulance or something the like he gets a panic attack. His mother is always the one to try and comfort him in these situations, but for this reason she calls in sick for work and she herself gets worried whenever she hears an ambulance. It just made me realize how a tragedy like this can greatly influence the lives of a great many people that you might not expect to be hurt by the event. I don't really have anything intelligent to add or something, I just wanted to share the story.

Heavy stuff... Thanks for sharing.
Must have been frightening for the boy. Do you know how old he is?

23, which surprised me. His behavior makes him sound really young, to you too I guess as you used the word boy. It's terrifying what such an experience can do to a grown man.Volenta wrote:Heavy stuff... Thanks for sharing.

I thought it was a boy because of how you described the situation (especially caring mother). Wrong assumption, but it's sad either way. I don't know how much age matters for the possibility of getting traumatized, but it looks like we could all be vulnerable to it.miniboes wrote:23, which surprised me.
