The New Testament

Post by xChrizOwnz »

When someone proves the old testament wrong, they skip STRAIGHT to the new testament and claim that it's much better because Jesus wiped those old sins out. Is there even a way to proceed against this argument, New Testament verses of immorality would be great.

Any way to get against this repetitive argument that contradicts many verses of the bible which claim ALL of the bible is God's word. Either way, please give me your thoughts.

To believe in the new testament one needs to believe in Paul's word of Jesus ..
Paul didn't know Jesus before his crucifixion it is actually said that Paul helped par take in the crucifixion of Jesus...
It's all wrong!
Don't be a waste of molecules

I typically mention Matthew 5:17 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have not come to abolish these things but to fulfill them."

or
Matthew 10:34 "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword."

or

Matthew 1-:35 ""Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35"For I came to SET A MAN AGAINST HIS FATHER, AND A DAUGHTER AGAINST HER MOTHER, AND A DAUGHTER-IN-LAW AGAINST HER MOTHER-IN-LAW; 36and A MAN'S ENEMIES WILL BE THE MEMBERS OF HIS HOUSEHOLD."

The things that TheVeganAtheist is pointing out are indeed the things I also like to point out to people (although thank you for the reference to the verses), because it is the most immoral part/position of the new testament if you'd ask me.

But it also kind of strikes me as strange, because Jesus supposedly did take the laws less serious (in particular clear with working on the sabbath). So it seems to somewhat contradicting itself there (which makes it possible for people to take their pick).

Something I rather like that the Late Christopher Hitchens said about the New Testament, is that it's the first place in the bible which refers to Hell. Hell - a place where those who are not convinced of the writings of mostly anonymous scribes or to belive the improbable, will be eternally tortured and punished - is an incredibly immoral punishment. Moreover, it's a large reason why Christians carry forth moral actions. Fear of punishment is, in my opinion, a very impersonal place from which to draw the desire to help others.

It reminds me of how colleges like when people have community service in their background. Because of that, so many people help out around the community for selfish reasons. Does it help people? Obviously, but the work itself is meaningless, and detracts from the true value of volunteer work.

Just a point I didn't see posted :)
