Merry Christmas Eve! So, how many of you here celebrate Christmas? And when Christmas is over, show of stuff that you got for free and most likely did not even deserve.
Anyways, many people say the word "Xmas" because they say they do not want to associate the holiday with Christianity. This is not the case at all. Actually, the X comes from Greek, and since I'm Greek, I can help out here. Anyways, the X in Greek means "Chi" and is the first letter in the word Χριστός (Christós) which basically means Christ. I have even seen many of my Christian friends saying that they could never get themselves to say "Xmas" because as they always say, keep Christ in Christmas, or whatever they say.
Anyways, Christmas is tomorrow, at least on my time.. uhhhhhh.. merry christmas i guess.

Correct, X is abbreviation for Christ.

Of course, none of it has anything to do with Christianity, and comes from much older pagan holidays.

I go with Happy Holidays, or even good ol' Yule.

Calling it Christmas is disrespectful to Saturnalia. Anyways, I work in hotels and we are supposed to say Happy Festive Season when speaking with guests.
