Well, aside from English I speak Dutch. That's about it.

Although I'm actually not really that good at speaking English, I think my reading, writing and listening skills are good enough to say that I master English at a reasonable level. Just like miniboes, I only know Dutch besides English.
Well, I would also say that I'm pretty fluent regarding certain programming languages, but I guess that doesn't really count.

I couldn't do the survey because there is some overlap and confusion in the options. For example, Italian is both a Latin and European language? Is Mauritian Creole (derived from French) a European, Latin, or African language? Anyways, I speak Swedish, English, French, German, Mauritian Creole and a bit of Spanish.

More than reasonable, me thinks. Your written English is quite excellent. The Dutch (and the Flemish) are the most multilingual people I have come across during my traveling.Volenta wrote:I think my reading, writing and listening skills are good enough to say that I master English at a reasonable level. Thanks for the compliment, we are also the only language in Europe who watch english movies with subtitles so we naturally learn the language. My linguist continues with French since half of my country's French-speaking....easy if you want to order something at Disneyland Paris.

The Scandinavian countries do this too. This is precisely the reason the Scandinavian and Benelux countries have the world's best second language English.Pumpkin wrote:we are also the only language in Europe who watch english movies with subtitles so we naturally learn the language.

I think there are more factors that matter here, for example americanisation. I personally never gained much from watching movies, rather it was talking with people over forums and teamspeak (voice chat) that brought my English to the level it is today.Jebus wrote:The Scandinavian countries do this too.
