Is Fattening Up Pets Immoral?

I don't know about you guys, but whenever I see a video or a picture of a fat pet (usually a cat, but can be a dog too), I just get so depressed inside, especially if it's trying to roll over or walk properly. People seem to think it's cute, but I don't see what's cute about it.
When it comes to obesity in humans, more often than not they had a choice in the matter, or at the very least knew what they were doing was unhealthy. The same can't be said for pets, especially considering that some people try to fatten up their pets for their amusement. WHY? We have laws against animal abuse, why doesn't this count? Why should we let people make the lives of their pets harder and sadder just because they think it's cute?

There are much bigger issues that keep me up at night, but yes; overfeeding is either stupid or immoral.

That is abusive if it's intentional and it would probably fall under those laws. Get them on tape if it's legal to do so in your area (single party or two party consent for recording) and call the relevant authorities on them?

They're probably also overfeeding animal products, adding additional impact to factory farmed animals to the problem.

I (thankfully) have not seen that in real life; if I did, I'd probably flip my shit and break up my friendship with that person if they did it intentionally. I see it in internet videos from time to time and everyone else thinks it's cute when a fat cat is struggling to roll over. It's heartbreaking to see such a thing.
