Are atheists too easily judged?

Recently, I read a news article (FOX, so it's the conservative side) about how an atheist group tried to take down a memorial that had crosses and angels on it. The article didn't mention the teacher's beliefs. When I went down to the comments section, I, of course, saw no positive comments about atheists. All of them were directed as hatred and judgement, which is really funny. Of course, when something bad a christian does makes news, they will immedietly jump to defend how their beliefs are okay (This is not always true and not all of them do this, just the minor few). As atheists, we barely get positive recognition. If we get recognition, it is almost always negative and giving theists a reason to bash atheists. As atheists, are we too easily judged? Or is it simply not possible to change the mind of a judgemental theist? Whereas theists, when judged, try to jump on a bandwagon that says it is okay?

I think the atheist support forum is more suitable for this topic..

Certainly, theists are often out to villainize atheists, because they believe it supports/confirms their beliefs about their god and bible (or other scripture).
They "reason" that if atheists are bad people, their religion must be true. Not valid reasoning, but that never stopped them.

It's cool to tell people the post should be in another section, but my point was that you should also reply to the topic itself while you're at it to stimulate conversation/answer the question. ;)

You read a FOX News article? Why?! ;)
I kind of enjoy FOX News sometimes. I like to pretend it's a satire; then it's really funny. Better than The Onion.

Didn't they run an article about Obama not wearing a tie in his interview with Bill O'Reilly?

Yup, I agree, they do it to "validate" their religions.

Religious people, I think, 'gang-up' on atheists even though their religions differ, because they all feel united in that they're religious.
You know how sometimes they say, "Our religions differ, but we all worship the same God."?

(Of course, they forget about polytheism here, and ignore that their perceptions of 'God' and what 'He' wants are all different.)
