Monthly update #11 (June, 2021)

Post by thebestofenergy »

Hello everyone, I hope you’re all doing well.

This month we have significantly progressed the recipe section of the Wiki, adding various dishes to the always growing Index of Recipes.
We now have over 100 completed recipes!

We made a complete overhaul to the whole food staples section. The classification now takes into consideration many more variables, and is much more precise and useful.
All the most important nutrients are taken into consideration, from fats, to vitamins, to minerals, and put into an equation to figure out the Final Value of Nutrient Density/kcal--according to how hard-to-get the nutrients provided by each food are on an average vegan diet, the absorption rate with other food components in the food, etc. (everything is explained in the article).

We made a new page for nuts and seeds, in the same fashion as the whole food staples page, discussing with a classification which nuts and seeds are best and why.

On top of this, various additions were made throughout the Wiki, adding edits to make different things more comprehensive or more informative.

Last but not least, we made a new video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7emh8Mvg0Vs
It talks about sweatshops, and why they are actually not something to boycott, but rather support--contrarily to what may seem self-intuitive at first. While this does not necessarily have something to do with veganism, we think it’s an important subject to talk about, as the trend towards boycotting sweatshops has a lot of misplaced hopes in what it’s trying to achieve, and many people are impacted negatively by it.

Thank you to all the people participating in the forum and making this community a more active one.
Many thanks to all the people spending their time voluntarily helping out with all sorts of projects.
And last but not least, special thanks to the people donating to Patreon and directly supporting the making of these projects at: https://www.patreon.com/philosophicalvegan

We have a lot planned, and any support helps us free up time for us to work on the Wiki and other stuff, and for future projects to happen.
For evil to prevail, good people must stand aside and do nothing.
