This is written as a follow-up to this thread (https://theveganatheist.com/forum/viewt ... f=17&t=575) which was posted six months ago when I had a different opinion about Brimstonesalad.

I don't know if Brimstone became nicer or if I became smarter but I want to put on public record that I have changed my opinion since that thread. I have learned a lot from his (assuming he is not a she) posts and I am doubtful this forum would survive without his participation. We have very few active forumites. Theveganatheist will often post but will rarely actively participate in the discussions. Brimstonesalad has made over 2000 posts and 99% of them are well thought through and clearly presented. My brother is a vegan physician who is much smarter than I and he was very impressed when I showed him Brimstonesalad's posts.

When I first became vegan I participated in a forum at veganfitness.com. This forum was active for a few years but has now come to a complete stand still. I would hate to see this forum have the same fate so I want to give a big thanks to Brimstonesalad.

I rarely post but have been on the forums since the beginning. Brimstone has always been posting his logical, well thought out views since then. Let's hope the forums continue to flourish!

As long as we're doing this, I want to thank brimstone for clearing up some of my misconceptions, like about anarchism, and about foods with GMOs and non-organic sugar being harmful to animals. I'm also thankful for his tolerance of my long-delayed replies. ;)

In addition, I used to think that it was generally wrong to "steal" products from animals (not always- for example, if it saved another animal's life etc., I'd be ok with it), but he showed how that is dogmatic, and he also explained to me why I shouldn't worry about trace ingredients too much.

He also changed my mind for the better about whether or not businesses should be allowed to discriminate. I'm not so sure anymore if I agree with him about all he was saying or might think pertaining to free speech, though, so perhaps I should make a topic on that.

Anyway, his posts are often very educational, and I actually learned a lot in general, like about ethics and nutrition etc. :D

P.S. I think that brimstone is a he, because he never corrects people when they refer to him that way. Or maybe it just doesn't bother him.

Thanks

Jebus, you should invite your brother to participate, if he might be interested.

I've tried but it's hard to motivate him. I will try again when I see him next month.

I'm actually kind of amazed he's putting in so much effort. Someone as intelligent as him, taking time to argue and explain things with/for pretty much everyone. :)

I learned a lot as well, and always great to know someone is reading your opinion very critically (but also rationally!).

Brimstonesalad is much appreciated on this forum. He is an amazing contributor and has shaped my views on a number of things. I am thankful for all the work he/she puts into this forum. I often find it hard to balance my life with my offline life, youtube channel, video creation, and forum. Brimstonesalad has stepped up in a big way. Thank you.

I agree with all that has been said, but since you're all being so nice i'm just gonna point out he/she (apparently we don't know) can be a bit mean.

In all seriousness, brimstone has changed the way I think about many things, most importantly nutrition, which made me even more of an outsider in Dutch culture. I'm thankful for it.
