Besides English I speak Chinese and Dutch on a regular basis.
By the way, am I the only one who thinks the French spoken language is ugly and un-romantic? It's so stingy, silent, and lazy compared to its written language.

Sounds fine as long as it's spoken by Europeans (French, Swiss, Belgian). Pretty much everywhere else it's ugly and lazy.

I've been to two of those countries and I think it sounds hideous there too.

That's subjective but at least they don't take the grammatical shortcuts that are common in the Caribbean, South Pacific, Africa, and French Guinea. The French Canadians have the grammar right but in my opinion have an unappealing pronunciation.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that French sounds ugly, but I'd say it's overrated. I've often heard others describe French as a very beautiful language, but I don't consider it more pleasing to the ear than most other languages. In my opinion though I would say that Dutch is an exceptionally beautiful language; very pleasing to listen to. I realize that this is likely a matter of personal preference though. I likely am biased about the Dutch language...
